Cruise line
Princess Cruises
Princess Cruises began in 1965 when Stanley McDonald chartered Princess Patricia for Mexican Riviera voyages. The present brand is part of Carnival Corporation Ltd., the unified parent name in use since May 2026. Princess should be distinguished from Carnival Cruise Line, another brand in the same group: a shared parent does not make the two fleets or their onboard products interchangeable.

The checked Princess fleet contains seventeen active ships. Star Princess joined in 2025 after Sun Princess, adding a newer Sphere design alongside the Royal, Grand and Coral families. Ship names are reused over the company's history, so the present Star and Sun should not be identified through specifications belonging to older vessels of the same name. Use the individual ship and its service year when comparing accommodation, facilities or a particular departure.
MedallionClass is a central part of the current product. The wearable Medallion acts as a room key, boarding credential and means of charging purchases to the onboard account. App-connected services add ways to organise parts of the trip. This describes a service system rather than a promise that every drink, delivery, restaurant or internet connection is included. Travellers should compare the services they actually expect to use with the chosen fare.
Princess Plus and Princess Premier package rules can depend on when the package was bought and when the voyage sails. The operator's current guidance distinguishes earlier 2026 purchases from newer terms. For a meaningful comparison, read the conditions attached to the booking instead of assuming that an old review's benefits apply unchanged. The same principle helps when comparing an included meal with a speciality restaurant or an optional experience.
English is the official onboard working language. The route and passenger market can influence additional services, so a translated booking website alone should not be treated as a guarantee of every activity in that language. Essential assistance should be confirmed for the departure.
Onboard accounting generally uses US dollars, with Australian dollars on selected Australia-based itineraries. Compare that account currency separately from the currency used to buy the holiday. Finally, keep an announced future ship order apart from today's operating fleet: the three Voyager-class ships ordered in 2026 for the 2030s are not already active Princess vessels.

Active ships and actual construction projects are listed separately. A dash means a value has not been independently verified.
