Port reference

Ajaccio

Ajaccio is a cruise gateway to Corsica with a commercial harbour close to the city waterfront. Use the cruise quay named in your sailing documents when arranging a transfer. Port Charles Ornano is a leisure marina, while the commercial port also handles ferries. These different uses of the waterfront do not share one universal passenger entrance or boarding procedure.

Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.

The port operator describes a dedicated cruise quay and a central setting for visits ashore. Its ferry instructions distinguish facilities used by different ferry companies. Those instructions should not be applied automatically to cruise check-in, baggage delivery or arrival deadlines. Confirm the cruise terminal meeting point directly from the sailing documents, particularly if embarking with large luggage or requiring step-free assistance.

Ajaccio Napoléon Bonaparte Airport is the local air gateway. The urban transport operator introduced airport line 11 in its revised network, replacing the former line 8. A January 2026 notice sets out a separate airport-shuttle fare and advance ticket purchase. An ordinary city-bus ticket should therefore not be assumed valid for the airport service. Check the current timetable and ticket channel before leaving the airport.

Ajaccio's railway station serves Corsican rail travel. It is a city connection rather than a railway station inside the cruise terminal or airport. Continue from the station using the actual cruise access point. If returning independently from elsewhere on the island, consider the complete journey and the ship's return deadline rather than relying on the duration of only one train segment.

The waterfront and old town offer a compact introduction to Ajaccio. A short city visit can suit a call better than an ambitious road trip across Corsica, especially when transfer arrangements are uncertain. Slopes, street surfaces and the final route back to the quay still matter for an accessible outing. Ferry and leisure-boat departure points are separate transport services.

The commercial port's current published cruise calendar shows repeated visits by nine linked cruise brands across its displayed season. Explora vessels are assigned to Explora Journeys even where a calendar company column uses MSC. Planned calls remain subject to changes. The coordinate identifies Ajaccio generally, rather than the cruise gangway.
