Alto Fondale cruise quay
Preferred cruise quay by the historic centre; actual assignment may use other suitable quays.
Port reference
Portoferraio is Elba's principal port, on the island's north-eastern coast. Cruise passengers arrive at a working harbour shared with the busy ferry links to mainland Italy. The port authority identifies Alto Fondale as the preferred cruise quay near the historic centre. An itinerary that says Elba does not identify every passenger's precise quay or exit.
Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.
The authority describes connections between Alto Fondale and Calata Italia, where ferry piers can also accommodate suitable cruise vessels when the preferred quay is occupied. The Darsena Medicea is a leisure marina with a different role. Use the sailing's actual berth before booking a vehicle. Ferry ticket offices, marina reception and a cruise gangway are separate destinations even within the same broad harbour.
Elba's airport is at Marina di Campo, in the La Pila area, not at Portoferraio's cruise waterfront. The airport operator lists road access, taxis and Autolinee Toscane bus information. Confirm the current service and the remaining terminal connection. No direct passenger railway between the island airport and cruise port is independently verified here. Mainland airport arrivals require another sequence of land transport and a sea crossing.
For an arrival through Piombino, check the actual ferry and its Elba destination. Portoferraio, Rio Marina and Cavo are different ports, requiring different onward arrangements. A mainland train station is not an Elba cruise terminal. With luggage or mobility aids, assess the complete sequence, including the crossing and the final path to the assigned ship. Allow a separate margin for cruise check-in rather than treating ferry arrival as boarding completion.
The Medici fortifications and historic harbour provide town-focused visiting possibilities. The hillier parts of the old town make a different outing from a short waterfront walk. Villa San Martino is another destination requiring its own travel plan. Check admission and access for the date instead of assuming that every museum or fortress is included with the cruise.
The authority's publicly linked cruise calendar is labelled 2025 and is not used as proof of current regular brand calls. Such references remain unassigned until a current repeating programme is independently established. The port facility information still supports the practical quay distinctions. The harbour coordinate comes from the official World Port Index and does not identify a passenger entrance.

Marina di Campo airport requires road travel to Portoferraio; mainland airport arrivals also need a sea crossing.
Mainland rail arrival is followed by ferry and island port connection; no island airport railway verified.
Use Alto Fondale or the assigned alternative; ferry piers and Darsena Medicea marina have different roles.
Connections reflect published programmes, not a guarantee for a particular sailing. Pending and future calls can change.
No current recurring cruise-line programme has been independently verified. This does not mean the port has no cruise calls.
Approximate straight-line distances between general port coordinates, not road or sailing routes. Proximity does not imply an available connection.
