Port reference

Civitavecchia

Civitavecchia is the cruise gateway commonly advertised as Rome, but the port is a separate coastal city. A ship call here does not place you beside the Colosseum or at a central Rome station. Choose between a local visit and a Rome excursion with the outward journey, return connection and ship's boarding deadline all included.

Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.

The cruise complex has several terminals and berths managed by Roma Cruise Terminal. Amerigo Vespucci and Donato Bramante are named passenger buildings; the latter opened in December 2025. Your cruise documents determine the actual check-in location. The operator's office address and a generic harbour entrance should not be substituted for that assignment.

Largo della Pace is an important cruise-shuttle interchange. Port Mobility distinguishes the cruise service from the ordinary port shuttle and the separate CSP connection between the railway station and cruise ships. These routes are different products. Reaching an ordinary-service stop does not establish that you are already on a direct transfer to your passenger terminal.

Civitavecchia railway station connects with Rome and requires an onward port journey. Trenitalia publishes Civitavecchia Portlink as a combined rail-and-bus option, with separate transport contracts for the rail and bus operators. Check the current product, boarding point and operating arrangements before choosing a ticket. Walking to a port entrance is not the same as walking to a distant cruise berth.

Rome Fiumicino is the nearest airport identified by the terminal operator. Port Mobility describes airport rail journeys involving a change, including the Rome Trastevere route, rather than a direct airport-to-cruise-terminal train. A booked road transfer is another option. Match the full connection to your flight and cruise check-in time without relying on a fixed road duration.

The October 2026 port schedule records repeated MSC, Costa, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Princess, AIDA and other cruise calls. Some are turnarounds and others transit visits; a scheduled vessel does not prove a particular bookable departure. For a local shore day, Fort Michelangelo, the historic port and the old town provide alternatives to travelling to Rome. The coordinate identifies Civitavecchia generally and is not a terminal gate or a walking instruction through operational areas.

Terminals and landing places

Terminal Amerigo Vespucci

Banchina 12, Porto di Civitavecchia

Passenger building opened in December 2025, near the Vespucci terminal.

Getting there

Airport connections

Rome Fiumicino requires onward road transport or a rail journey with a change, followed by the station-to-port connection. Confirm the full itinerary and assigned terminal.

Rail connections

From Civitavecchia station check the current CSP cruise connection or Trenitalia Portlink product. Walking to a harbour gate does not complete the terminal transfer.

Local transport and final connection

Cruise shuttles link Largo della Pace with cruise berths. The ordinary port shuttle and direct station service have different routes and arrangements.

Sights and local orientation

Cruise lines with documented programmes

Connections reflect published programmes, not a guarantee for a particular sailing. Pending and future calls can change.

Approximate straight-line distances between general port coordinates, not road or sailing routes. Proximity does not imply an available connection.
