Port reference

Charlotte Amalie (St Thomas)

Charlotte Amalie is the main town on St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, with cruise arrivals handled at different parts of the harbour. Havensight's WICO Dock is managed by the West Indian Company, while Crown Bay's Austin “Babe” Monsanto Marine Terminal is managed by the Virgin Islands Port Authority. These are separate passenger destinations. A sailing described simply as St Thomas does not establish which road transfer or return meeting point is appropriate.

Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.

The official calendars distinguish WICO, Crown Bay's north and south berths, and harbour anchorage positions. Calls at St John are also listed in some regional calendars, but they are not Charlotte Amalie visits. Read the actual location code instead of using a calendar's island-wide title as a terminal assignment. Where a ship anchors and tenders passengers ashore, the shore landing and tender return procedure are additional details to confirm with the ship.

Cyril E. King Airport, STT, is the airport on St Thomas. The port authority publishes its ground transport information separately from Henry E. Rohlsen Airport on St Croix. A flight to STX is therefore a different island arrival and not a short road transfer to Havensight or Crown Bay. For STT, confirm the authorised taxi or booked transport and give the driver the actual cruise facility. Ask whether the agreed charge is for the passenger, party or vehicle, including luggage.

No operating public passenger railway platform at either cruise quay is asserted. City visits, beach trips and inter-island ferry excursions each require their own route. Do not assume that an airport transfer, a port-area taxi and a ferry connection share one ticket or the same meeting place. Travellers needing assistance should confirm the complete gangway-to-vehicle journey before selecting an outing. A nearby shopping centre does not define the correct passenger return entrance.

Fort Christian and Emancipation Garden offer a historic-town orientation, while the 99 Steps provide a more demanding walk on Government Hill. Steps and hillside streets should not be described as an entirely level route. Choose a visit that fits the available time and your access needs, then retain transport to the correct side of the harbour.

The current November 2026 WICO programme and authority schedules support repeated visits by the linked cruise lines. Different versions can move an individual ship between berths, so current sailing instructions take precedence over a general brand association. The NGA coordinate is a general Charlotte Amalie harbour reference, not a terminal doorway.
