About us Diamond Princess

Diamond Princess began passenger service in March 2004 after construction by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Nagasaki, Japan. It belongs to the wider Grand family, but its 37.5-metre breadth distinguishes the Japanese-built pair from narrower Italian relatives. The individual IMO 9228198 is important when separating it from Sapphire Princess and from construction-era references where the ships' names changed before service.

Izumi Japanese Bath is a particular feature of Diamond. The operator describes indoor and outdoor bathing areas inspired by an onsen, with separate facilities and specific arrangements for the shared outdoor area. This is a distinct experience from simply using a pool. Check access, clothing and age conditions for the sailing rather than assuming every spa or bath follows the same rules.

Dining changed again for the 2026 Japan season. Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill were added, with the steakhouse taking the former Savoy Dining Room space. An older list that still counts Savoy as an ordinary main restaurant therefore needs updating. Makoto Ocean brings a sushi-focused speciality option, while Sabatini's supplies another cuisine. The exact fare and restaurant terms determine which reservations add to the holiday budget.

Princess Theater, Explorers Lounge and Club Fusion offer indoor entertainment settings. Skywalkers Nightclub and Movies Under the Stars add other ways to spend an evening. These spaces should be considered with the actual daily programme, particularly on an itinerary with long days ashore. Youth and teen facilities provide separate choices for families, without making the whole vessel an adults-only product because a retreat or bathing area has its own restrictions.

Current insurance records 115,906 GT and Hamilton, Bermuda registry, superseding older operator references to 115,875 GT and the United Kingdom. The operator fleet table explicitly identifies 2,710 lower berths, while other summaries publish different standard guest figures; the basis remains documented. Current cabin totals are not reconciled. Original machinery combines diesel generation with a GE gas turbine, as recorded by its supplier, rather than the LNG arrangement of later Princess ships. A builder's generic speed is not adopted as a verified maximum.
