Port reference

Southampton

Southampton is a major British cruise departure point, with passenger facilities spread between the Eastern and Western Docks. The port's five cruise terminals are City, Horizon, Mayflower, Ocean and Queen Elizabeth II. They are separate embarkation locations, so the correct dock gate and terminal should appear in any transfer or parking plan.

Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.

The city's current cruise information identifies regular operations by P&O Cruises, Cunard, Royal Caribbean, MSC and Princess. Their ships and routes offer different holidays from the same city. Compare the complete sailing programme and cabin on the named vessel rather than treating every Southampton departure as an identical product.

Southampton Central is the principal city rail arrival for cruise passengers. The port's individual directions describe onward taxi connections and walking approaches for particular Western Docks terminals. A route suitable for City Terminal is not automatically the appropriate approach to Ocean or Queen Elizabeth II. Check the actual building, luggage and walking requirements together.

Southampton Airport has a rail connection through Airport Parkway to Southampton Central. Heathrow, Gatwick and Bournemouth are alternative airports with different onward journeys. Use the full connection in the travel plan, including any changes and the final terminal transfer. A regional flight arrival and a London-airport arrival should not receive the same assumed transfer allowance.

The city offers a land programme of its own. Old Town's medieval walls and Tudor House and Garden provide historic stops, while SeaCity Museum explores maritime connections including the Titanic story. Choose visits according to the time available and current opening arrangements. A city visit before boarding still needs a separate solution for luggage.

For road arrival, Eastern Docks terminals use the Dock Gate4 area, while Western Docks access varies by terminal. Follow the current sailing instructions and operator directions. Confirm the return terminal before arranging a post-cruise collection. The map coordinate is a general port reference, not an individual entrance or a promise that all five buildings are reached by the same route.

Getting there

Airport connections

Southampton Airport connects through Airport Parkway to Southampton Central, with a final terminal transfer. Heathrow, Gatwick and Bournemouth involve other onward routes; confirm the actual airport and full journey.

Rail connections

Use Southampton Central and the route for the assigned terminal. Port guidance describes taxi ranks and specific walking approaches; do not apply the City Terminal walking route to every dock.

Local transport and final connection

Confirm the terminal and dock gate before arrival. Ocean and QEII use the Gate4 area; City and Horizon have separate Western Docks approaches. Follow current embarkation documents and signs.
