P&O Cruises

P&O Cruises is the British-market cruise line operating seven current ships: Arvia, Iona, Britannia, Azura, Ventura, Arcadia and Aurora. This profile covers that UK fleet, rather than combining it with historical Australian ships carrying the same brand name. The company traces its heritage to 1837, a different date from incorporation of the present legal operator. Today the business trades as Carnival UK Ltd. from its Southampton registered office within the Carnival group.

The fleet spans different ship generations and sizes. Arvia and Iona provide a different scale of holiday from the smaller Aurora or Arcadia, while the intermediate ships have their own layouts and dining arrangements. Compare the actual vessel and itinerary before treating a common brand as a promise of the same facilities everywhere. The announced transfer of Arcadia to Holland America Line in 2029 is future work and does not remove it from today's seven-ship roster.

Age policy requires particular care. Arcadia and Aurora have been marketed for adults, but selected departures from December 2026 will welcome guests of all ages. The operator publishes the affected voyages individually. That is neither an immediate change to every departure nor a reason to describe those ships as permanently adults-only. Families and travellers seeking an adult environment should check the policy attached to the specific voyage number.

The onboard account is priced in pounds sterling, and the product is oriented towards English-speaking guests. Paying for a booking or arranging transport in another currency does not change the shipboard currency. Travellers coming from Germany or Spain should compare the practical language and payment arrangements as well as the ports, rather than assume a European departure makes the onboard product local to that country.

Current pricing separates the underlying fare from optional packages. The operator offers Classic and Deluxe all-inclusive packages on applicable holidays of at least five nights. These combine defined drinks and internet benefits with specialty-dining credit; they are not unlimited coverage of every purchase. Check eligibility and terms for the booking, including how a package can be removed, rather than extrapolate from an advertised daily starting price.

Accommodation selection, dining preferences and flexibility can also differ by fare type. Read the conditions attached to the actual quote, particularly when comparing a lower advertised price with a more flexible booking. The useful comparison joins ship, room, route, age policy and services you intend to use. A shared P&O name is the start of that assessment, not its complete answer.
