About us Arcadia
Arcadia is one of the smaller ships in today's P&O Cruises fleet. Fincantieri built it at Marghera in 2005, and the current insurer identifies it as IMO 9226906. The insurance entry records 84,342 gross tonnage, a current figure distinct from the original builder specification of 82,505. Using the same name across many years does not make every historical size or accommodation figure current.
The ship's programme includes Mediterranean, northern European and world-cruise itineraries. Its scale and classic public spaces create a different comparison from the larger Excel ships. The operator lists two swimming pools and eleven guest decks, while accommodation categories include inside and sea-view rooms, Deluxe Balcony cabins, mini-suites and suites. These categories should be checked through the individual room plan; a suite label alone does not establish its layout or access arrangements.
Arcadia completed a refurbishment in 2024. The operator's report dated 28 November describes the ship after its recent refit, with illustrations identifying the East Bar, Meridian Restaurant and Oasis Spa among the public spaces. This retrospective establishes completed work, without converting each photograph into proof of an identical change throughout the vessel.
Age policy is particularly important for future bookings. Selected Arcadia holidays from December 2026 will welcome all ages, with affected voyages published by the operator. This does not immediately change every departure or establish permanent adult-only operation. A traveller seeking an adult environment and a family booking several generations should both confirm the policy of the specific voyage number.
The builder specifies 285.23 metres overall, a moulded beam of 32.25 metres and a maximum speed of 24 knots. Its maximum persons aboard includes crew and is not entered as a passenger maximum. The announced move to Holland America Line in 2029 remains future: Arcadia belongs to P&O's current fleet in this profile. Compare a present P&O sailing under its actual terms, rather than apply the promised product of a later operator to today's voyage.
