Port reference

St George’s (Grenada)

St George's is Grenada's capital and the setting for the Melville Street Cruise Terminal. The Grenada Ports Authority distinguishes these passenger facilities on the town's western shoreline from the older Carenage port berths focused on cargo. Use the actual cruise terminal and ship assignment when arranging a transfer. The name St George's describes the wider harbour town and does not identify every passenger entrance or local boat landing.

Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.

The terminal includes a welcome area and a shopping complex, with access towards the town across Melville Street. The authority's historical description records the development's opening during the 2000s; a page calling it new does not mean it first opened in 2026. Public access to shops also does not replace a cruise boarding document or establish a ship's check-in time. Keep the sailing instructions and permitted route through the passenger facilities when leaving for a visit.

Maurice Bishop International Airport at Point Salines is the separate aviation gateway. Grenada Airports Authority publishes airport taxi information, while the tourism authority describes taxis, road tours and other local transport choices. Confirm the actual cruise passenger destination, vehicle pickup and luggage requirements before the transfer. A fare for a general city district is not automatically a confirmed quotation for every passenger and bag. Allow for the ship's reporting window as well as the flight's arrival process.

The Melville Street bus terminus is another town transport point, not a railway platform or the gangway itself. If travelling independently, check the actual route, stop and return connection. A public bus, an airport taxi and a water taxi have different boarding places and arrangements. No operating public passenger railway connection to the cruise berth is asserted. Confirm mobility assistance for the complete route rather than assuming that a nearby shopping entrance proves every part is accessible.

The Carenage provides a historic waterfront visit separate from its working-port role, while Market Square offers another town destination. Some streets and routes climb away from the shore, so choose a plan appropriate to the time and walking conditions. Wider island excursions require their own road journey and agreed return pickup. Do not turn the port's proximity to town into a promise that every Grenada attraction is beside the terminal.

P&O's published 2027 programme contains repeated Arvia itineraries including Grenada, supporting the regular line link. Defunct companies in an older port article are not copied into the current list. The NGA coordinate is a general St George's harbour reference, not the terminal's boarding door.
