Port reference

Roseau (Dominica)

Roseau is Dominica's capital and a cruise gateway on the island's west coast. The Dominica Air and Sea Ports Authority identifies the dedicated Roseau Cruise Ship Berth near the city's business and visitor area. It also handles cruise vessels at Woodbridge Bay, a separate working port to the north. Confirm the assigned berth before planning a walk, choosing a taxi pickup or deciding how much time is available for a city visit.

Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.

Dominica's other passenger facilities have distinct roles. Cabrits Cruise Ship Berth is in Portsmouth, not another entrance to central Roseau. Roseau's ferry terminal serves inter-island passengers and can also receive cruise tenders when a ship is at anchor. A ferry ticket, a tender return and a normal alongside cruise embarkation therefore involve different procedures. Keep the actual ship instructions and shore landing rather than following a generic passenger-port label.

Douglas-Charles Airport and Canefield Airport are different arrival points. Dominica's current tourism guidance advises travellers to confirm the airport and arrange the onward journey before landing. The airport taxi dispatch at Douglas-Charles provides a starting point for road transfers; Canefield is closer to Roseau but should only be selected if it is the actual airport on the flight booking. Neither arrival is a railway connection to the cruise gangway.

The island's terrain makes the complete road itinerary relevant when choosing an excursion. Confirm vehicle type, access assistance and the return collection point rather than relying on a broad island-wide travel estimate. A local minibus route through Roseau is not an automatically included cruise shuttle. Where a sightseeing product is called a trolley train, it is a visitor tour through city streets, not evidence of a public rail platform at the passenger berth. Check the actual boarding and mobility arrangements.

The Dominica Museum and nearby craft area offer a city-focused visit. The Botanical Gardens and Morne Bruce provide other perspectives on the capital, with separate routes and gradients to consider. An inland waterfall outing needs a different road journey and may involve uneven surfaces. Choose a route that fits the ship's published time ashore, and treat return arrangements as part of the excursion rather than an afterthought.

P&O's current forward brochure and Roseau excursion programme support its repeated Dominica link. The port website's calendar widget still contains 2023–24 events despite showing a present-day month, so those entries are not reused as current visits. The NGA coordinate represents the general Roseau port area, not either passenger entrance.
