About us Arvia

Arvia is P&O Cruises' second Excel-class ship and the younger sister of Iona. Meyer Werft built it in Papenburg and handed it over in Bremerhaven in December 2022. The operator records guest service from the same year. Its permanent IMO number is 9849693, and the current insurer records 185,581 gross tonnage. Those particulars identify the vessel more precisely than launch publicity using rounded tonnage or a general claim to be the newest ship.

The layout centres on a large resort experience with several places to spend a sea day. The SkyDome has a retractable glass roof, allowing a different connection to the weather from a permanently enclosed pool area. Altitude adds an outdoor activity zone, while the Grand Atrium brings views through several levels. These spaces matter when comparing a warm-weather itinerary with one that includes cooler sea days, although no roof or activity guarantees suitable conditions throughout a voyage.

Arvia also has its own dining identity. The operator highlights 6th Street Diner, alongside a wider selection of included and additional-charge venues. Mission Control is presented as an extra-cost experience, so it should not be counted as an unlimited inclusion simply because it appears in a ship tour. Families can compare the attractions they will actually use with the requirements and charges published for their sailing.

The builder lists 344.5 metres overall, 42 metres moulded beam, twenty decks and 2,614 passenger cabins. Public decks are a different measure: the current operator overview lists fifteen guest decks, whereas the original delivery release described sixteen. The total-deck field follows the shipyard, without turning either public-deck count into the ship's total. Published passenger totals also differ in definition and date; this profile leaves the double-occupancy and maximum fields unresolved rather than double the cabin count.

LNG-capable propulsion is documented by both builder and operator. It is a fuel-system description, not a claim that a cruise has no environmental impact. For a practical comparison, use the actual room plan, voyage length and intended activities. Arvia shares a platform with Iona while retaining distinctive spaces, and a familiar class name does not make every dining or entertainment arrangement identical.
