Port reference

Leixões (Porto)

Leixões is the ocean-cruise gateway for Porto, with passenger facilities in the Matosinhos and Leça da Palmeira harbour area rather than on Porto's Ribeira riverfront. The port authority distinguishes the South Pier Porto Cruise Terminal from the North Cruise Terminal. Confirm which facility your ship uses before choosing a station, meeting point or final transfer.

Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.

The South Pier building is a modern cruise facility associated with Matosinhos. The North Cruise Terminal is another passenger location across the wider harbour. A terminal tour, local marina visit or Douro riverboat instruction is not automatically the boarding procedure for an ocean cruise. Use the actual quay assignment and the ship's passenger directions when reaching or leaving the controlled area.

Porto Airport is the relevant flight gateway. The airport operator identifies metro lineE as its rail connection, while APDL describes lineA for transport between the Matosinhos area and Porto. These are different services. Check the actual interchange and station for your assigned terminal rather than assuming an airport metro runs directly into either passenger building.

A journey from a mainline railway station likewise needs an onward local connection. Choose the final walk, confirmed shuttle or road transfer according to the berth, luggage and mobility requirements. The port authority's public building-tour access and visiting hours do not replace cruise check-in instructions. When arranging a vehicle, use the permitted passenger meeting point for the actual sailing.

Matosinhos beach offers a local coastal visit distinct from the inland journey into Porto. Porto's historic district and Ribeira are separate excursion destinations with their own transport and walking plan. A city-centre photograph on a cruise itinerary does not mean that the ship is docked beside the Douro's historic waterfront. Leave time for the return to the correct side of the harbour.

Repeated published P&O Cruises itineraries establish a regular Leixões link, including Ventura programmes in May and October2027. Other brands can visit, but the cross-reference here is limited to the recurring programme independently confirmed in this pass. Future sailings remain provisional. The coordinate is the general official Leixões reference, not the South or North terminal doorway.
