Port reference

Ålesund

Ålesund combines a working cruise waterfront with an unusually distinctive city centre. The regional tourism board highlights its Art Nouveau architecture around Brosundet, while the port publishes dated mooring plans for individual ships. Those plans are more useful for a particular arrival than assuming that every vessel uses an identical passenger entrance.

Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.

Stornespiren and Prestebrygga are established cruise-quay references on the southern waterfront. The port explains that cruise operations can restrict the surrounding quay areas and the southern passage through Brosundet. These restrictions matter when planning the first walk into town or arranging a pickup. A line drawn across the harbour on a map does not necessarily remain a public route while a ship is alongside.

Use the mooring plan for your actual ship and date, then confirm the marked passenger exit. The port authority's office at Skansekaia is not automatically the check-in address for a cruise at the southern quays. Keep the quay name with your cruise documents so a return taxi or helper can identify the correct destination.

Ålesund Airport Vigra connects with the city centre and Moa by airport bus for many major flight arrivals and departures, according to Avinor. A separate bus connection serves the express-boat quay at Valderøy. These are different destinations. Choose the city service needed for your journey and add the final transfer to the confirmed cruise berth rather than treating an airport-bus ticket as a ship-side transfer.

For other arrivals, plan around the verified road, bus and boat connections. No passenger-rail link into this cruise terminal is established here. Aksla viewpoint involves an uphill visit; the architecture around Brosundet and the Art Nouveau Centre provide different city options. Choose a route suited to your walking ability and available shore time, with the return to the quay included.

Repeated dated mooring plans support links with AIDA, MSC, TUI Cruises, P&O Cruises, Costa and Holland America. Bookings and operational plans can change, and these port visits do not all indicate embarkation opportunities. The coordinate is the general UNECE Ålesund location, not a terminal entrance or a pickup instruction.
