Port reference

Geiranger

Geiranger is a village cruise destination at the inner end of the Geirangerfjord. Its arrival arrangements differ from a large city terminal: the official port facilities document identifies anchorage positions and the SeaWalk arrangement. A visit can therefore involve a tender or the assigned SeaWalk access rather than walking from every ship directly onto the same permanent quay.

Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.

Check your ship's actual access method before booking a meeting ashore. The published cruise list combines Geiranger and Hellesylt, sometimes splitting a single itinerary into successive stops. Hellesylt is a separate destination, not another name for the Geiranger village landing. A brief technical or excursion stop there should not be counted as a second full day in Geiranger.

The official2026 sheet records actual position labels, including4B/SW and other anchor positions. Treat those assignments as planning information, subject to the ship's confirmed arrangements. Tender departure order and the last return boat determine usable shore time. A sailing time from the harbour list is not necessarily the passenger's final boarding deadline.

For a flight-based journey, Ålesund Vigra is a regional gateway requiring substantial onward travel. The regional tourism board describes bus and road connections, including seasonal services towards Geiranger. Confirm the complete itinerary for the date rather than assuming a direct airport shuttle to the cruise landing. Road, ferry and seasonal transport arrangements need to fit together before a flight connection can be relied on.

Geiranger does not have a passenger-rail approach established by the sources used here. Plan the final arrival by the verified bus, road or boat services. The village waterfront, Waterfall Walk and Norwegian Fjord Centre are different shore-day choices. The waterfall route climbs from the village towards the centre, so choose it according to your walking ability and allow for the descent and return to your landing.

Repeated position-specific entries support AIDA, MSC, TUI Cruises, Costa and Celebrity links. The port list is a programme, not a guarantee of embarkation or unchanged operations. The coordinate is Kartverket's general village representative point, not a SeaWalk doorway or a tender landing.
