Port reference

Juneau

Juneau is an Alaska cruise destination on Gastineau Channel, with several waterfront facilities serving different vessels. The city operates downtown cruise docks, but a Juneau itinerary label does not establish one common passenger entrance. Read the actual berth assignment and the ship's shore access instructions before arranging a meeting or independent transport.

Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.

The municipal facilities include Alaska Steamship Dock and Cruise Ship Terminal, often identified as AS and CT. They are distinct dock positions rather than two names for a single doorway. Other berths and vessel arrangements exist along the wider waterfront, so this profile does not assign all cruise ships to the municipal docks. Confirm the public exit for the actual call and keep the same location for the return journey.

Juneau International Airport is outside the central cruise waterfront. The airport publishes ground transportation options, including Capital Transit. Check the current route and the onward connection to the assigned dock rather than assuming every airport vehicle is a direct cruise transfer. A city stop, taxi drop-off and gangway have different roles in completing the journey. No universal airport fare or end-to-end transfer time is promised.

Juneau does not have a mainland railway arriving beside the cruise ships. Visitors combining rail travel elsewhere in Alaska need a further air or sea connection before the local port transfer. Local buses and independent excursions also have their own routes and meeting points. Confirm the full outward and return arrangement, including any mobility assistance, with the actual provider for the day of the call.

Downtown museums offer a city-focused visit that is different from travelling into the surrounding glacier landscape. The Juneau-Douglas City Museum publishes its own seasonal opening arrangements, and the Alaska State Museum is another distinct destination. Choose according to the ship's available time and the route from the assigned dock. For outdoor excursions, use the current operator and visitor information rather than assuming a distant attraction is a waterfront walk.

CLAA's October 2026 edition of the 2027 Juneau calendar shows repeated Holland America, Princess, Norwegian, Carnival and Royal Caribbean visits. These support the regular line links as future bookings, not completed calls. The NGA World Port Index supplies a general Juneau harbour position because the verified UN/LOCODE entry lacks coordinates. That reference should not be used as a passenger entrance pin.
