About us Mein Schiff 2

The present Mein Schiff 2 entered service in 2019 after construction at Meyer Turku in Finland. Its permanent identity is IMO 9783576, with Malta as the current flag. It is not the earlier vessel that subsequently sailed as Mein Schiff Herz. Current individual builder, port and technical records agree on 111554 gross tons, distinguishing the exact measurement from the rounded 111500 in general publicity.

Design is a useful starting point for understanding this ship. The operator identifies contributions by Werner Aisslinger to Tag & Nacht Bistro and Schau Bar, while Patricia Urquiola worked on suite interiors. These are particular spaces with different functions, rather than a promise that every room was designed by the same person. A traveller interested in the interior setting can compare the actual category and public areas before choosing accommodation.

The enlarged design also provides a covered Arena and an extended running track compared with earlier purpose-built fleet members. Those features can matter on a voyage with several sea days. Consider how outdoor activity, indoor plans and visits ashore fit your own routine. More options do not require a passenger to use every facility, and the availability of a sporting space does not establish the programme or opening arrangements for every departure.

The most recent completed refurbishment documented here was in Dubai in January 2024. The operator describes maintenance, refreshed public areas and preparation for a shore-power connection. Its January announcement explicitly said that electrical cabinets were still to be delivered, so that document alone is not treated as proof that the connection was already fully commissioned that day. A later sustainability report records final fitting during 2024. The completed hotel work and the technical commissioning therefore retain their separate chronology.

Current technical answers from the operator give 1447 cabins and sixteen decks. The published passenger basis is 2894 at double occupancy, not a verified maximum. Length is 315.7 metres in current operator and technical references, versus a different builder website entry that is documented rather than silently combined. Moulded breadth is 35.8 metres. Exact current crew, maximum speed, maximum passengers and detailed machinery remain unresolved. Suite entitlements and ordinary cabin positioning should be checked through the actual plan and booking terms.
