About us Mein Schiff 5

Mein Schiff 5 entered service in 2016 as another purpose-built Blue Motion ship from Meyer Turku in Finland. Its identity is IMO 9753193 and its present flag is Malta. The builder's individual specification and current technical particulars agree on 98785 gross tons. This precise figure is distinct from the approximate 99800 still used in some general descriptions of the ship.

Its most recent completed modernisation took place in Dubai in January 2026. The operator records work from 8 to 19 January and a return to guests on 20 January. Interior changes included refreshed flooring and furniture in several dining and lounge areas. This is a documented update to existing spaces, rather than a claim that every room was reconstructed or that the ship became a newbuild again.

The outdoor programme included the area around the main 25-metre pool and the pool in the Lagune. These provide a useful starting point for passengers who expect to spend substantial time aboard between calls. Compare their location with the chosen room and the atmosphere you want for a sea day. The renewed private sun lodges have their own access conditions, so they should not be presented as an unrestricted benefit of any cabin.

The yard work also introduced filters in the laundry to reduce microplastic entering the downstream wastewater system. That installation has a specific operational purpose. It is not evidence of removing all plastic from the ocean or eliminating every environmental effect of a cruise. Shore-power work documented separately in 2023 likewise concerns the ability to use a compatible connection, rather than the fuel or power supply on every voyage.

Atlantik, Anckelmannsplatz and the ship's lounge spaces remain part of a holiday that can be planned around included meals or occasional optional purchases. Read the actual restaurant and fare conditions when a particular experience matters. The current operator FAQ supports 1267 cabins and fifteen decks. Published double occupancy is 2534 guests, with 295.3 metres length and 35.8 metres moulded breadth. Maximum passengers, exact crew, maximum speed and a reconciled detailed machinery description remain open instead of being borrowed from a sister vessel.
