About us Icon 5 (project designation)
Icon 5 is the published project designation for Royal Caribbean International's fifth Icon-class ship. Meyer Turku identifies the project as newbuilding 1408. A final passenger-facing name has not been established in the reviewed announcements. The designation keeps the project distinguishable from the operating Icon, Star and Legend ships and the separate Hero of the Seas project.
Construction has progressed beyond an order. The builder records a steel-cutting ceremony on 19 January 2026 in Turku, Finland. Its subsequent announcement confirms keel laying on 14 September 2026. These are different stages: fabrication of steel sections precedes positioning the first major block in the dry dock for hull assembly.
Royal Caribbean's individual construction explanation describes the first block being lowered by crane and the traditional placement of coins. The next stages include joining further blocks, floating out the hull, sea trials and eventual delivery. None of those later milestones is treated here as completed merely because keel laying has taken place.
The operator plans introduction in summer 2028. That is a forward schedule, rather than an original service year already achieved. This project therefore remains outside the active passenger fleet count. A construction milestone cannot establish the final operational programme or guarantee that an early target date will remain unchanged.
Individual accommodation, technical and itinerary details are not filled from an existing Icon sister. A shared class indicates a design family but does not prove identical cabin numbers, final tonnage or every entertainment venue. Final comparisons should use the specifications and room categories published for this particular vessel when those become available.
For a future booking, examine confirmed departure information, accommodation conditions and the applicable fare together. Keep promotional drawings separate from delivered spaces, and check the embarkation port before arranging independent transport. This record documents an actual ship under construction and its verified milestones; it does not offer a speculative deck plan or an invented final ship name.

A dash means no independently verified value is available. Guest counts at double occupancy and maximum capacity are different measures. GT measures enclosed volume, not weight.
