About us Star of the Seas

Star of the Seas entered passenger service in 2025, with the operator's technical sheet giving 31 August as its maiden-voyage date. Built by Meyer Turku, it is an Icon-family ship in Royal Caribbean's operating fleet. For travellers considering an established Icon design but a different individual vessel, the useful comparison is not simply whether Star is newer: it is which cabin categories, venues and sailing dates match the intended holiday.

Its published figures closely align with Icon: 248,663 gross tonnage, 364 metres of rounded length, 20 total decks and 18 guest decks. The same sheet gives 2,805 staterooms and a double-occupancy reference of 5,610 guests. Similar dimensions make these sister ships a sensible starting comparison, but do not establish identical availability, prices or venue reservations on a particular departure.

One ship-specific difference visible in the factsheet is Lincoln Park Supper Club. AquaDome, Absolute Zero, Surfside and the Category 6 waterpark also appear among the named facilities. If a particular dinner or performance is the reason for choosing Star, check the current programme and conditions for that ship rather than relying on an Icon video or a general description of the fleet.

For a mixed-age party, discuss daily meeting points before settling on room locations. A ship of this scale allows different interests to pull a group in several directions. Cabins close together may simplify the start and end of a day, while a category chosen primarily for its view may require different walking routes. These are practical trade-offs to examine on the deck plan, not qualities that can be read directly from gross tonnage.

Keep the technical guest reference separate from your impression of likely crowding. Double occupancy standardises one part of the comparison, whereas actual occupancy, event timings and your chosen facilities influence the experience of a specific voyage. Star's source links are included so that a prospective guest can verify those fixed specifications and then turn to the dated itinerary and booking terms for the arrangements that change.
