About us Icon of the Seas

Icon of the Seas is the 2024 passenger-service entry in Royal Caribbean's Icon family. Its operator factsheet dates the maiden voyage to 27 January 2024 and names Meyer Turku in Finland as the builder. That passenger milestone is the date used here: the group's financial fleet table instead associates the vessel with 2023. Treating those dates as interchangeable would obscure the difference between a vessel being delivered and carrying its first holidaymakers.

The technical sheet publishes 248,663 gross tonnage, a rounded length of 364 metres and 20 total decks, including 18 guest decks. These figures establish the scale of the ship, but do not tell you how far your particular cabin is from the places you will use. Study the lift locations and routes between accommodation, dining and outdoor areas before choosing a room, especially if members of your party have different walking tolerances.

The published accommodation reference is 2,805 staterooms and 5,610 guests at double occupancy. It is not a promise about the number of passengers on a school-holiday departure, nor a maximum-capacity figure. Families using additional berths make the distinction important when comparing guest totals across ships.

AquaDome, Absolute Zero, Surfside, Category 6 and Crown's Edge are named in the ship-specific materials. This combination makes Icon worth examining for a group that wants several different kinds of onboard activity rather than a voyage organised solely around port visits. The operator's venue information also distinguishes everyday dining choices from separately priced experiences; compare the actual inclusions in your booking rather than counting restaurant names.

For a cabin decision, consider whether your priority is an outward sea view, proximity to the family areas or a quieter route away from your busiest evening venues. Confirm the category's exact outlook and layout on the dated deck plan. A first look at the ship's dramatic silhouette cannot answer those practical questions, while the source-linked measurements and occupancy basis provide a consistent starting point for comparing Icon with Star or Legend.
