About us Havila Capella

Havila Capella introduced Havila Voyages to the Norwegian coastal route when its maiden passenger voyage began on 12 December 2021. Built at Tersan in Turkey, it is the first of the operator's four HAV 923 design ships. Its permanent IMO number is 9865570. Skuld's current insurance record confirms Norwegian registration, construction in 2021 and 15,519 gross tonnage.

The vessel's defining technical feature is its LNG-electric machinery combined with a 6.1-megawatt-hour battery installation. HAV Group describes the electrical system and battery capacity supplied for Capella, while the operator explains shore charging and battery sailing for selected sections. Up to four hours of battery operation is a capability under appropriate conditions. It is not a statement that the whole coastal journey operates without combustion or environmental impact. Hydrogen readiness is provision for possible later conversion, not proof of an installed hydrogen propulsion plant.

Capella received the Next Generation Ship Award during Nor-Shipping in April 2022. That recognition relates to the project and its technical development, not a guarantee about each future journey's fuel use. The ship combines its holiday role with scheduled transport and cargo work between communities. The current operator identifies 640 passengers across the design, including local port-to-port travellers, with 179 cabins. An overnight berth count should therefore be kept separate from the total passenger limit.

The onboard arrangement prioritises views and meals linked to the coast. Havrand is the table-service restaurant, Havly is the café and Hildring provides a separate fine-dining setting. Havblikk's lounge on deck nine offers panoramic viewing; outdoor spaces include the deck-eight hot-tub area. Compare the fare to see which meals, drinks and experiences are covered rather than assume the same inclusions in every room category.

Norwegian, English and German are the main onboard languages, with Norwegian kroner used for prices. Exact length remains unresolved because the builder's individual project page gives 122.7 metres while its catalogue gives 124.10 metres. The 22-metre beam agrees. Cabin choice and the actual sailing timetable remain the most practical starting points for comparing a short transport booking with a full coastal holiday.
