About us Havila Pollux

Havila Pollux completed Havila Voyages' four-ship operating fleet when it began its maiden coastal voyage from Bergen on 23 August 2023. The operator's same-day announcement confirms an actual departure rather than a planned sailing. Tersan's retrospective also records delivery of Pollux and Polaris in August 2023, following a construction programme affected by substantial delays. Pollux's permanent IMO number is 9946922, distinct from an earlier uncompleted order associated with another shipyard.

Current insurer Skuld identifies 15,519 gross tonnage and the Norwegian flag. Construction year remains unresolved: Skuld lists 2022 while the operator's current overview gives 2023. The documented 2023 service year is kept separate. Both builder and operator give 22 metres beam, but the builder's individual page and catalogue disagree on length, with 122.7 and 124.10 metres respectively. Those figures are not averaged into an invented dimension.

The ship belongs to the HAV 923 design series. Its machinery combines LNG-electric generation, electric propulsion and a 6.1-megawatt-hour battery installation. Shore charging and selected battery-only sections are features of the design, not evidence that a whole coastal holiday runs on batteries. Future hydrogen conversion and biogas ambitions must also be distinguished from fuel and systems actually used on the specific departure.

The current fleet description lists 179 cabins and total capacity of 640 passengers. This includes the transport role for local port-to-port travellers and should not be interpreted as an overnight double-occupancy total. The operating route serves communities and cargo as well as tourists. Check the actual timetable before planning independent time ashore, since a brief working stop may not permit an extended visit.

Havrand offers table-service meals, Havly provides café choices and Hildring adds a separate fine-dining setting. Havblikk's panoramic lounge, outdoor viewing spaces and hot tubs provide different ways to watch the coastline between calls. Fare conditions determine the included meals and drinks. Norwegian, English and German are the main onboard languages; prices are in Norwegian kroner. Compare room category, route and season together to assess this modern working coastal ship against the holiday experience you want.
