About us Havila Polaris

Havila Polaris joined Havila Voyages' working coastal fleet in August 2023, following delivery by Tersan in Turkey. A contemporary operator report records departure north from Bergen on 18 August while preparing to enter the scheduled service in Bodø. This later account supersedes earlier plans for a different starting date or port. Its permanent IMO number is 9946910, not the number attached to an earlier uncompleted project at another yard.

Skuld's current record confirms Norwegian flag and 15,519 gross tonnage. Construction year remains unresolved because the insurer lists 2021 while the operator identifies the ship as built in 2023; delivery and passenger service in 2023 are separately documented. The HAV 923 design has a 22-metre beam, 179 cabins and total passenger capacity of 640. The builder gives different lengths in its individual project page and catalogue, so an exact length is not silently chosen.

Polaris combines LNG-electric machinery with a 6.1-megawatt-hour battery installation. It also has a documented later fuel demonstration. The operator's May 2026 retrospective confirms that it completed a coastal round voyage using liquefied biogas and batteries in late 2025. That was a particular voyage, with its own emissions accounting, rather than evidence that every present departure uses only biogas or has no lifecycle emissions. The vessel's technical capability and its actual fuel programme should be considered separately.

For guests, the ship offers the same broad accommodation and public-space arrangement as its fleetmates. Havrand provides table-service dining, Havly is the café, Hildring offers a separate fine-dining setting and Havblikk's lounge supports panoramic viewing. Outdoor decks and hot tubs add alternatives between calls. Read the fare's specific inclusions instead of treating the presence of a restaurant as a universal meal entitlement.

Norwegian, English and German are the main onboard languages, and prices are denominated in Norwegian kroner. The coastal route carries local passengers and cargo alongside holiday guests, so passenger totals include more than overnight accommodation. Check the exact itinerary and stop duration before arranging an independent visit. Seasonal light and the particular room category can matter more to a scenery-focused holiday than the date of the naming ceremony.
