CentrePort cruise passenger zone
Controlled passenger area; use the ship’s approved city access and return arrangements.
Port reference
Wellington's main cruise passenger arrival is handled through CentrePort's controlled cruise zone. The port describes shelter, visitor information and other passenger services after leaving the gangway. This is a working-port arrival rather than unrestricted access to every quay. Before setting off independently, ask the ship which city-walk or shuttle arrangements are authorised for that day's berth and conditions.
Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.
For the 2026–27 season, CentrePort names Wakefield Street opposite the Amora Hotel as the cruise shuttle stop in the city. That is a city meeting point, not the ship's berth. Friends and family should arrange to meet away from the port because there is no general public access to the cruise area. Taxis cannot collect or drop passengers at the wharf. Choose a safe city pickup point and keep the return shuttle instructions if the private tour does not have permission to take passengers directly back to the ship.
Wellington Airport's Airport Express connects with Wellington Railway Station. A rail-station arrival is still separate from entering the controlled cruise facility. Confirm the complete route for an embarkation, including baggage and the actual reporting point provided by the cruise line. A taxi journey into the city does not override the wharf's taxi restriction. Check where an authorised transfer will meet or leave passengers before making a booking.
The port announced a trial inner-harbour berth for selected expedition-sized vessels during the 2026–27 season. That trial is not a promise that every ship can offer a direct walk into the city. Use the actual ship's assignment and instructions rather than applying a small-vessel trial to a large cruise liner. The operator's current calendar remains a programme that can change; it is not a guarantee of every arrival time or passenger movement.
Te Papa Tongarewa, the national museum, and the Wellington Cable Car provide distinct city experiences. The cable car climbs from Lambton Quay and is not the airport connection or a port shuttle. Plan museum admission and any guided activity for the actual travel date, then allow time to return to the designated shuttle stop. Do not extend a city visit by assuming a taxi can deliver passengers directly to the gangway.
The published season schedule supports repeated Celebrity, Carnival, Viking, Holland America, Azamara, Regent, Silversea, Oceania and Royal Caribbean visits. Single appearances by other brands have not been treated as repeated service. The official coordinate is a general Wellington location, not the cruise-zone entrance.
Controlled passenger area; use the ship’s approved city access and return arrangements.
Airport Express links Wellington Airport and Wellington Railway Station; arrange the authorised final cruise connection.
Wellington Railway Station is a city interchange, not a cruise boarding platform.
2026–27 city shuttle stop: Wakefield Street opposite Amora Hotel; taxis cannot collect/drop at the wharf.
Connections reflect published programmes, not a guarantee for a particular sailing. Pending and future calls can change.
Approximate straight-line distances between general port coordinates, not road or sailing routes. Proximity does not imply an available connection.
