About us Wind Spirit

Wind Spirit is one of Windstar's four-masted sailing yachts. The company's history places its introduction in 1988, after Wind Star and the former Wind Song. That historical launch reference is preserved separately from a fully verified original passenger-service record. It does not make the ship interchangeable with a later motor yacht simply because both carry the same operator's name.

The first phase of Wind Spirit's current refurbishment programme was completed in 2025. The operator describes refreshed reception and retail areas, changes to the lounge, spa and gym, and work on the outdoor pool spaces. A second phase remains scheduled for March 2027. Planned future accommodation and restaurant changes are not presented as completed features at this review date.

Wind Spirit carries no more than 148 guests in 74 staterooms according to the operator's explicitly limited capacity description. This is different from calculating passenger numbers from cabins. Current individual insurance records identify IMO 8603509, gross tonnage of 5736 and registration at Nassau in the Bahamas.

Its published dimensions distinguish 110 metres at the waterline from 134 metres including the bowsprit. This profile records the larger overall extent and states its basis. For comparisons with other ships, use equivalent measurements rather than mixing waterline length and overall length. The four-masted sailing arrangement also works alongside auxiliary machinery, so sailing capability does not guarantee an engine-free journey.

Accommodation choice should take account of the actual room and access arrangements. The shared deck information specifies boarding by stairs. Travellers with mobility requirements should discuss the particular boarding conditions and reserved room before booking. A compact ship can still involve steps and thresholds in routine daily use.

Compare Wind Spirit with Wind Star through their individual refurbishment dates, accommodation and actual routes. They share a product family, while their programmes and completed improvements differ. Check the confirmed itinerary before arranging shore transport or evening activities. The destination name alone does not establish whether the ship uses a berth or tender, or how long guests can realistically spend ashore.
