About us Symphony of the Seas

Symphony of the Seas is a 2018 Oasis-family ship built at STX France in Saint-Nazaire. Its technical factsheet dates the maiden voyage to 7 April 2018. The combination of a familiar neighbourhood layout and its own dining and entertainment list makes it useful to compare as an individual ship rather than as an interchangeable Oasis entry.

The published technical reference is 228,081 gross tonnage, a rounded length of 362 metres and 18 total decks, including 16 guest decks. The operator gives 5,518 guests at double occupancy. Guest capacity and enclosed volume describe different things: a difference in either figure does not automatically measure personal space in a theatre, restaurant or pool area.

The ship materials identify the Ultimate Family Suite, Ultimate Abyss and the Perfect Storm, together with AquaTheater, Studio B and FlowRider. Hooked Seafood and Wonderland appear in its dining list. For a group with different evening interests, that creates an opportunity to compare the actual venues each person hopes to use, rather than selecting a ship because a class-level advertisement mentions many attractions.

Start the accommodation discussion with the number of people sharing the room and the required sleeping arrangement. A highly distinctive suite is a specific category, not a description of normal cabins elsewhere on the vessel. Check the category inventory and floor plan for your travel dates before using a photograph of that suite to form expectations of the entire accommodation range.

The same care applies to choosing between an outside view and a room facing an onboard public area. Decide whether the outlook itself or proximity to particular facilities matters more. Then place that cabin choice against the itinerary: a port-intensive departure and one with several sea days can make the same venue list useful in different ways. Symphony's specifications support a consistent comparison, while the dated programme completes the picture.
