About us Oosterdam

Capacity note: the guest figures discussed below come from older published specifications. The corporate fleet table dated August 2026 gives a different count, so a current comparable capacity remains unconfirmed.

Oosterdam is the second of Holland America Line's four Vista ships, built by Fincantieri in Marghera and delivered in 2003. Its IMO number is 9221281. It shares the class with Zuiderdam, Westerdam and Noordam, while the similarly sized Signature vessels form another group. The builder records 285.23 metres overall and a 32.25-metre moulded beam. Current insurance particulars list 82,820 gross tonnage, rather than the older construction figure still visible in the original ship description.

The completed April 2025 Bahamas yard visit is especially relevant to facilities available now. The operator's return-to-service report records a rebuilt spa Thermal Suite, changes to the Crow's Nest and upgrades to the Rolling Stone Lounge. The Crow's Nest update provided areas for arts, games and puzzles. These details describe how the space can be used, rather than promising a specific class or performance every day.

The spa work introduced a co-ed sauna and a couples' massage room, alongside accessibility improvements. Access to a facility and inclusion of treatments in a fare are separate questions. Travellers choosing for wellness should check the applicable passes and service prices rather than treating a renovation announcement as an all-inclusive promise.

The works also changed the allocation of public space. An Effy retail area replaced a small cinema, and the former Gallery Bar became part of the expanded casino. Old deck plans can therefore give an inaccurate impression of the spaces encountered on a current voyage. Review the version for the actual departure, particularly when a quiet lounge or nearby entertainment matters to cabin choice.

Oosterdam is scheduled to debut its larger Evolution transformation in autumn 2027. That remains future work, separate from the completed 2025 visit. The historical 1,964 guests at double occupancy does not establish the ship's eventual post-transformation capacity. New accommodation promoted for Evolution should be compared only for sailings to which it applies, without assuming that today's vessel already contains it.
