About us Seven Seas Explorer

Seven Seas Explorer opened a new ship generation for Regent in 2016. Fincantieri delivered it at Sestri Ponente in Genoa on 30 June. The subsequent Monte Carlo naming celebration featured Princess Charlene of Monaco as godmother and a performance by Andrea Bocelli. Delivery, naming and the start of passenger operations remain separate events within that introductory year.

Its permanent IMO number is 9703150. The builder's technical reference and current insurer agree on 55,254 gross tonnage. At 223.6 metres overall length and 31 metres beam, Explorer is larger than Regent's earlier Navigator. Its diesel-electric plant combines four MAK generating engines with two electric propulsion motors; the yard explicitly distinguishes 20.5 knots maximum speed from the lower service-speed figure.

The present operator inventory lists 374 suites and 548 crew. Accommodation is entirely balcony-equipped, with substantial differences between categories. Compare actual plans, location and included benefits before choosing between an ordinary suite and one of the larger premium arrangements. A category's maximum sleeping capacity describes that accommodation, not a method of calculating the certified passenger limit of the complete ship.

The Culinary Arts Kitchen introduced hands-on learning to this Regent ship generation. A cooking experience has a different purpose from an ordinary restaurant dinner and should be checked separately for availability and any charge. The broader dining choice remains subject to the venue and reservation rules applicable to the actual sailing.

An extended Asia-to-Australia programme illustrates Explorer's destination role. Regent's published collection schedules a sixty-night Tokyo-to-Sydney journey beginning on 20 October 2026. This dated example should not be treated as a permanent homeport or a guarantee that every future voyage follows the same sequence. For independent travel, use your confirmed departure's actual gateways and port hours.

Original builder accommodation totals differ from today's operator inventory. Those historical design figures are not substituted for the current suite count, and total persons aboard is not presented as a passenger maximum. Physical deck total and a fully reconciled passenger basis remain documented research gaps. When comparing Explorer with Splendor or Grandeur, shared class membership helps identify a design family while individual inventories, decoration and voyage details still require separate consideration.
