About us Koningsdam

Capacity note: the guest figures discussed below come from older published specifications. The corporate fleet table dated August 2026 gives a different count, so a current comparable capacity remains unconfirmed.

Koningsdam introduced the Pinnacle generation to Holland America Line in 2016. Built by Fincantieri at Marghera, Italy, the ship preceded Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam. Its IMO identity is 9692557. The first passenger voyage took place in April 2016, following delivery in March. The later naming celebrations are a separate event, so a photograph of the ceremony does not determine when commercial cruising began.

The original design brought a World Stage theatre with a surrounding LED display and a Lido Pool beneath a retractable glass roof. These are more informative distinctions for a prospective guest than treating the vessel simply as a larger version of an older Holland America ship. Weather protection at one pool should not be read as a promise that every outdoor area is covered, and theatre technology does not specify the shows on a particular departure.

A completed Bahamas dry dock changed the accommodation and entertainment arrangements in March 2026. Guests returned on 29 March. The operator confirms five additional ocean-view rooms, including connecting options, and changes to selected Vista Suites. Families should inspect the actual room type and permitted occupancy: an improvement to one accommodation group is not a guarantee that every cabin sleeps four.

That update also matters when comparing specifications. The original 1,331-cabin inventory cannot safely stand as an unchanged current total. Likewise, the historical 2,650 double-occupancy guests is not a new maximum passenger figure after the works. The available exact tonnage values conflict between builder and insurer, so the headline tonnage field remains unresolved rather than concealing the disagreement.

At 299.65 metres overall, Koningsdam has a moulded beam of 35 metres. Diesel-electric machinery supplies two propulsion pods; LNG operation is not established. For a booking decision, combine the post-refit accommodation description with the relevant itinerary and category terms. Koningsdam's place as the first Pinnacle ship explains the lineage, while its completed 2026 changes make a launch-era review an incomplete guide to the current experience.
