About us Azamara Onward

Azamara Onward is the former R Three and Pacific Princess, built in Saint-Nazaire in 1999. Its introduction under the current name came in May 2022. These dates describe construction and a later brand debut respectively. The vessel therefore brings an older R-class hull to Azamara's present four-ship programme, rather than representing a 2022 newbuild.

A distinctive current feature is Atlas Bar, which the individual ship page identifies specifically with Onward. This venue is useful when comparing the ship with its fleetmates. The announced Forward programme envisages a later relocation during Onward's 2027 drydock. That proposed layout remains separate from the existing bar at the review date.

Onward's other described public spaces include the Living Room and Cabaret Lounge. The first is a social setting, while the second hosts performances. A traveller who expects to spend evenings aboard may compare these spaces differently from someone choosing a route around long stays ashore. The ship and itinerary should be evaluated together, since neither alone determines the day's rhythm.

The accommodation comparison also needs attention to actual category and position. Published ship-wide capacity numbers do not establish the layout or suitability of a particular suite. Review the reserved floor plan, access requirements and the routes to frequently used facilities. Do not assume that a room with a similar name on Journey or Quest has precisely the same arrangement.

Azamara's factsheet reports a November 2024 refurbishment. It gives a double-occupancy figure that differs from the later corporate admission document, so this record leaves the unresolved capacity open. The disagreement is not resolved by converting a room count into an assumed maximum, or by importing a former Princess-era inventory.

For travel planning, confirm the actual embarkation port and check how onward transport fits the published disembarkation instructions. Compare specialty dining conditions with the booked fare before budgeting for extras. Onward's combination of a familiar R-class design and its own venues is most meaningful through these practical details: the room you reserve, the time available ashore and the spaces you will use aboard.
