Port reference

Genoa

Genoa's cruise passenger area is part of a much larger working port on the Ligurian coast. Ponte dei Mille and Ponte Andrea Doria are the principal cruise-terminal locations identified by city tourism and the passenger operator. Nearby ferry facilities serve different routes and boarding procedures, so a ticket to the port is not enough to choose the correct entrance.

Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.

Ponte dei Mille contains the historic Stazione Marittima, whose passenger rooms have been adapted for modern cruise use. Ponte Andrea Doria is a separate cruise facility. Treat the terminal and ship assignment in your current travel documents as the final address, especially if a parking company or transfer provider gives a separate reception point.

Genova Piazza Principe is the nearby railway arrival point highlighted in the cruise directions. Genoa also has other stations, including Brignole, so check your ticket rather than assuming every city arrival is beside the same port approach. A walking connection may suit some passengers, while luggage, mobility and the assigned building can make an onward taxi more appropriate.

Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport serves the region. The airport and local transport operator describe connections to the city and its railway stations, including Volabus. Check the current service and meeting point when travelling: airport information can differ between language versions, and a city-station bus does not deliver passengers to every cruise gangway. A confirmed road transfer is another option.

MSC publishes repeated Genoa departures and identifies Ponte dei Mille and Ponte Andrea Doria in its port instructions. The airport also distinguishes MSC's Genoa homeport from Costa's Savona base. Genoa and Savona should not be treated as interchangeable terminals even when the same regional airport is used. Follow the actual departure port on your booking.

Porto Antico, the aquarium and the historic centre provide different ways to extend a stay before or after sailing. They are city attractions rather than alternative embarkation points. Choose visits after accounting for baggage, entrance requirements and the route back to the assigned terminal. The published passenger schedule is indicative and can change through the cruise company. The coordinate here is the UNECE general Genoa location, not a particular gate or a guarantee of a short walk across the entire port.

Getting there

Airport connections

Use Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport and confirm the current onward transport to your cruise terminal. Volabus is a city-station connection; check AMT and airport notices or a booked transfer.

Rail connections

Genova Piazza Principe is near the cruise area. Check the arrival station on your ticket and choose an onward route suitable for the terminal, bags and mobility.

Local transport and final connection

Follow Ponte dei Mille or Ponte Andrea Doria as assigned. City transport, taxis and parking reception points must match that building; nearby ferry terminals are different facilities.
