Port reference

Costa Maya (Mahahual)

Costa Maya is the cruise gateway associated with Mahahual on Mexico's Caribbean coast. Royal Caribbean identifies itself as the owner and operator of the existing port. A call here is a mainland arrival, unlike Cozumel's island terminals. Use the actual Puerto Costa Maya passenger instructions rather than a generic Riviera Maya address when arranging an excursion or return transfer.

Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.

The existing harbour should be distinguished from Perfect Day Mexico, a separately announced destination expected to open in 2027. Promotional images of future waterslides, pools and other facilities do not establish what is available during a 2026 call. Confirm the passenger route and the services actually operating for the day. A construction or development announcement is not proof that the entire port is closed, and the presence of a future project does not mean that all of its planned attractions can already be visited.

Mahahual's beach setting and the port facilities are different parts of the visit. Confirm the actual pickup point for a beach outing or an independently booked tour. A vehicle arranged by an excursion operator may meet outside the controlled passenger area rather than alongside the ship. Keep the return destination as the assigned cruise facility and agree a time compatible with the ship's all-aboard deadline. No universal free shuttle or fixed taxi fare is assumed here.

For a separately arranged land arrival, identify the flight's actual airport before comparing road transfers. Chetumal International Airport is a verified airport in southern Quintana Roo, but it is not a terminal at the cruise pier. A flight to Cancún or another airport represents a different road journey. This profile does not claim a scheduled airport shuttle or a passenger railway platform at the gangway. Confirm any permission to join a ship at this call with the cruise line instead of treating a port-of-call excursion page as an embarkation offer.

Chacchoben's archaeological zone provides an inland heritage excursion, with its own admission and road access. INAH's visitor information is the appropriate starting point for current entry conditions. Bacalar Lagoon is another inland outing, while a Mahahual beach visit can have different transport requirements. Select one realistic plan rather than combining distant destinations without considering the return journey. Water activities require their own operator instructions and conditions.

Two dated Royal Caribbean itineraries confirm repeated scheduled Costa Maya visits, supporting that regular line link. The operator's ownership is not used as proof of exclusive access by one brand. The official UN location reference identifies Puerto Costa Maya generally, not a specific passenger doorway.
