Port of Roatán — Coxen Hole
Town Center cruise facility in Coxen Hole.
Port reference
Roatán has two distinct cruise arrival areas on the island's southern side. Port of Roatán, also called Town Center, is in Coxen Hole. Isla Tropicale is the cruise destination formerly known as Mahogany Bay in Dixon Cove. The island name alone does not establish which facility the ship uses, so confirm the terminal before booking an independent transfer or excursion.
Coordinates identify the general port, not a passenger entrance. A dash means the value has not been independently verified.
The International Hydrographic Organization's Honduras assessment distinguishes the two facilities, while the current Isla Tropicale operator confirms its location and visitor services. Older excursion instructions may still use the Mahogany Bay name. Match the old and new names carefully, but do not treat the name change as a move to the Coxen Hole port. A driver collecting passengers at one facility cannot assume the other facility has the same gate or meeting procedure.
Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport serves Roatán. Arrange the final road journey to the actual cruise facility or accommodation. An arrival at a mainland Honduran airport is a different journey and should not be substituted without planning the island connection. Confirm baggage space, vehicle accessibility and the meeting point with the provider. No passenger rail connection to either cruise terminal is established in the reviewed arrival information.
At Isla Tropicale, the operator identifies a beach area and visitor facilities within the port destination. Ask which activities and equipment are included in the particular booking and which require payment. A future development announcement does not establish that every proposed attraction is already operating. At Coxen Hole, the town-based location creates a different setting from the Dixon Cove visitor complex; plan onward transport from the facility actually used.
For an island outing, choose a route that allows for the return journey, passenger controls and the ship's boarding time. Preserve the actual terminal name throughout the excursion. The general Roatán coordinate here is not a terminal entrance. Separate Carnival Liberty and Carnival Legend itineraries for January 2027 include Isla Tropicale, supporting Carnival's regular connection. The linked profile covers both arrival areas without assigning every cruise brand permanently to one of them.
