About us Viking Vesta

Viking Vesta is the second ship of the enlarged ocean series introduced with Viking Vela. Fincantieri delivered it at Ancona on 26 June 2025, and the operator records its naming in Split on 30 June. Norwegian journalist Lene Tangevald-Jensen served as godmother. Its permanent IMO number is 9852444, and current insurer Steamship Mutual records 53,769 gross tonnage.

The ship's current offer has 499 staterooms and a published limit of 998 guests. Private verandas continue the brand's accommodation approach, but the larger generation should not be confused with the earlier 930-passenger design. Standard rooms, larger suites and their booking privileges differ. A floorplan and the exact category conditions are therefore more useful than treating a familiar fleet image as proof of identical accommodation.

The operator lists length as 784 feet and beam as 101 feet, approximately 239 and 30.8 metres. The published dimensions are retained at that rounded precision. The complete current machinery configuration and an independently verified maximum speed remain unconfirmed in the primary material reviewed. The delivery release explicitly separates Vesta from Libra and Astrea's forthcoming hydrogen installations. A common shipbuilder does not transfer future technology to an already delivered ship.

Vesta is also assigned to future world-cruise programmes. Viking's May 2026 announcement describes a 142-day itinerary planned from Fort Lauderdale in December 2028, ending in London in May 2029. This illustrates the range of travel marketed for the ship, but it is a future programme subject to the actual booking and later operational changes. It is not a completed voyage or evidence of its present location.

For guests, the choice is between the specific departure, room and included services. The current ocean programme is for adults aged eighteen and over, with no casino. Reading, cultural presentations and shore visits form part of the destination focus. Alternative restaurant dining is advertised without a meal surcharge but still requires reservations. Optional excursions and drinks depend on the fare. English is the main programme language, with US dollars for the standard onboard account. Compare the needs of a short regional sailing and a long world voyage before assuming that the same room or service package suits both equally well.
