About us Viking Venus

Viking Venus joined the ocean fleet in 2021, after delivery at Fincantieri's Ancona yard on 15 April. Its naming followed on 17 May, with British journalist Anne Diamond as godmother. These are documented milestones for an existing ship, not dates of later refurbishment. The permanent IMO number is 9833175, and the current insurer records 47,842 gross tonnage with Bergen as port of registry.

As the seventh ship built by Fincantieri for Viking, Venus continues the early ocean design rather than the enlarged 998-guest generation introduced later. The current ship page advertises 930 guests and private verandas throughout; the annual fleet table defines 930 as maximum passenger capacity. The number excludes crew and is not automatically a double-occupancy calculation. Room dimensions and booking privileges differ across the advertised categories.

The builder describes two pools, including an infinity pool at the stern, and a wellness area with a sauna and snow grotto. The contrast between warm and cold spaces reflects the Scandinavian-inspired interior approach. It is useful to compare facilities actually available with the time you expect to spend aboard. A port-intensive itinerary and a sailing with longer sea passages can place very different value on the same public rooms.

The technical page gives 228.2 metres overall length, 28.8 metres moulded beam and an explicit twenty-knot maximum speed. Diesel generator sets supply the ship's electric propulsion motors. This is separate from future hydrogen systems planned for other vessels. The cabin count remains unresolved because the builder's headline total conflicts with its own category breakdown and the operator's published inventory. Those inconsistent totals are disclosed instead of converted into an invented capacity.

The present ocean offer is for travellers aged eighteen and over, with talks, reading and cultural visits as central elements. There is no casino. Alternative restaurant dining is included subject to reservations, while drinks and extra excursions require a check against the booked fare. English is the main programme language and the standard onboard account is in US dollars. Compare the precise room, itinerary and included services before deciding whether Venus's familiar fleet design suits the trip you want.
