About us Viking Saturn

Viking Saturn was delivered at Fincantieri's Ancona yard on 26 April 2023, completing the ten-ship construction sequence of Viking's early ocean design. That sequence includes the former Viking Sun, now Yidun, sold to CMV in 2021 and repurchased by Viking in March 2026. Saturn's numbering in the yard's history therefore does not mean ten identical currently owned ships in every later fleet count. Its permanent IMO number is 9845922 and the current insurer records 47,842 gross tonnage.

The naming ceremony took place in New York on 6 June 2023, with Metropolitan Opera chair Ann Ziff as godmother. The operator described it as part of an already operating inaugural season, followed by North Atlantic itineraries. This is a historical programme reference, not a promise that every current Saturn voyage visits the same ports. Check the actual departure before planning flights or independent time ashore.

Saturn maintains the early fleet's advertised maximum of 930 passengers and private verandas throughout. The annual fleet table confirms the maximum-capacity basis. Accommodation categories differ in size, plan and reservation priority, even when each has outdoor space. A precise cabin selection is more informative than assuming that a common ship design makes every room identical.

Fincantieri describes two pools, an aft infinity pool and a spa with a sauna and snow grotto. Scandinavian-inspired interiors, outdoor dining and cultural presentations frame time between ports. The current adult product has a minimum age of eighteen and no casino. Alternative restaurant meals are included under the published offer but need reservations, while optional drinks and excursions depend on the actual fare.

The builder's technical page gives 228.2 metres overall length, 28.8 metres moulded beam and an explicit twenty-knot maximum. Its diesel-electric machinery is distinct from later hydrogen-capable vessels. The cabin total remains unresolved because the same builder page's headline and category breakdown do not agree with each other or fully reconcile with operator inventory. The latest completed major refurbishment is also unverified. English is the main programme language and the standard onboard account uses US dollars. Compare Saturn by itinerary, room and services, keeping confirmed operating features separate from technical or historical assumptions.
