About us Viking Neptune

Viking Neptune was delivered at Fincantieri's Ancona shipyard on 10 November 2022 as the ninth ship in Viking's original ocean series. Its naming followed in Los Angeles on 8 January 2023, with retired astronaut and aquanaut Nicole Stott as godmother. The later ceremony does not change the ship's 2022 construction and service history. Its permanent IMO number is 9845910, and current insurer Steamship Mutual records 47,878 gross tonnage.

Neptune has a specific place in Viking's technology development. The delivery release confirms that a hydrogen fuel-cell module rated at 100 kilowatts was installed as a test. This experimental installation is different from the ship's main diesel-electric propulsion and from the much larger partial hydrogen systems planned for Libra and Astrea. It does not establish that Neptune makes an entire ocean voyage on hydrogen or with no emissions. Nor is the existence of a test module evidence of its operating schedule on a particular departure.

The present operator page retains the early ocean offer of 930 guests with private verandas throughout. The annual fleet table identifies 930 as maximum passenger capacity. It excludes crew and is not silently relabelled as verified double occupancy. Category choice still affects room size, layout and reservation privileges, so compare the precise accommodation and fare.

Public spaces follow the Scandinavian-inspired approach of the early series. Two pools, including an aft infinity pool, combine with a spa containing a sauna and snow grotto. Reading, cultural presentations and destination time are central to the adult programme. Minimum age is eighteen and the current ocean offer does not include a casino. Alternative restaurant meals require reservations even when no dining surcharge applies.

The technical page gives 228.2 metres overall length, 28.8 metres moulded beam and a twenty-knot maximum, distinct from service speed. Cabin totals remain unresolved where builder and operator references disagree. English is the main programme language and the standard account uses US dollars. Optional drinks and shore activities depend on the booking. Evaluate Neptune through its actual itinerary, room and inclusions, keeping its documented experimental technology separate from broad environmental claims.
