About us Silver Origin
Silver Origin was delivered to Silversea on 3 June 2020 in the Rotterdam harbour area after construction by Shipyard De Hoop in the Netherlands. Its passenger introduction followed in 2021. Permanent IMO number 9837937 identifies the vessel, and the operator's current deck document explicitly records Ecuadorian registry.
Designed around the Galápagos, Origin has a more specialised purpose than an ocean ship moving between several world regions. Ecuadorian guides and the Basecamp area connect the onboard setting with island exploration. Consider the particular itinerary and included land programme when comparing departures. A general Galápagos label does not tell you which islands or landing sites are included in your voyage.
The naming ceremony took place at San Cristóbal on 25 February 2022, with conservationist Johanna Carrión as godmother. This later ceremony should not move the ship's build or passenger-introduction year forward. Dates for construction, first guests and a formal celebration describe different parts of the same vessel's history.
The builder carefully distinguishes 110.01 metres overall length from 101.50 metres waterline length. This profile records the explicitly labelled overall measure. Its seventeen-metre moulded beam is also a stated engineering basis; shorter or narrower promotional figures should not be silently compared as if every source measured the same thing.
Origin's propulsion uses diesel-generated electricity and two Steerprop contra-rotating propulsors. The technical reference separately identifies fifteen knots as maximum speed. That engineering description does not establish an identical daily operating speed, and the planned journey should be assessed through actual arrival and departure arrangements rather than top speed alone.
For a room choice, compare the real suite plan, view and included services. Outdoor space and indoor living space are different considerations, especially when the day is organised around outings. Check individual accessibility and activity information before assuming that every arrangement suits the same needs. The current operator lists ninety crew. The group reports one hundred double-occupancy berths, matching the guest headline; this is not reused as a separately certified maximum. Some final inventory and measurement questions remain documented so that a promotional number does not become an unsupported technical claim.
