About us Oceania Riviera

Oceania Riviera is the second of the larger O-Class ships built for the brand at Fincantieri's Sestri Ponente yard. Delivery and passenger introduction took place in 2012, with the operator dating the maiden voyage to May. Permanent IMO number 9438078 distinguishes it from other vessels called Riviera. Current Steamship Mutual cover records 66,172 gross tonnage, differing from the 66,084 still displayed in the general operator ship facts.

The yard's technical reference gives 239.3 metres overall length and 32.2 metres moulded beam. Its diesel-electric arrangement combines Wärtsilä generating machinery with electric propulsion motors. Service-speed figures are not automatically maximum speed, and the delivery reference's total persons aboard includes crew rather than representing a passenger limit.

The completed 2022 refurbishment changed rooms and public spaces. Oceania's subsequent January 2023 announcement describes the renewed ship and its first Asian season. That historical deployment included a range of longer voyages and overnight calls, but it should not be treated as a current itinerary guarantee. The booked departure determines whether a named destination is actually included.

Culinary choice is central to Riviera's identity. The Grand Dining Room, Toscana, Polo Grill, Red Ginger and Jacques offer distinct settings, while Terrace Café and Waves provide informal alternatives. Cooking classes and private culinary experiences should be checked separately for availability and charges. Included specialty restaurant meals do not remove reservation requirements or guarantee a preferred sitting.

The current individual operator page lists 624 suites and rooms, a different inventory from the original builder specification. There is also a historical capacity discrepancy: the 2023 refit account used 1,238 guests, while the later FAQ identifies the O-Class double-occupancy basis as 1,250. That unresolved relationship is documented rather than replaced by twice the room count. The current physical deck and crew totals are likewise not inferred from guest deck plans or original accommodation.

Onboard accounts use US dollars, and new bookings follow the adults-only transition announced in January 2026 with earlier minor reservations honoured. Compare the actual category, services and route when choosing Riviera. A similar layout to Marina does not erase their different refurbishment histories, current inventories or individually recorded tonnage.
