About us Finnmarken
Finnmarken is the 2002-built Kleven ship that sailed as Otto Sverdrup between 2021 and 2025 before returning to its original name. Its permanent IMO number is 9231951. Gard identifies 15,690 gross tonnage and registration in the Norwegian International Ship Register. The historic Finnmarken ships displayed at Stokmarknes are separate vessels, not the construction history of this current ship.
Its present Signature programme operates from Hamburg towards the North Cape. The operator specifies German as the primary language for the daily programme, announcements and lectures, with euros used for the onboard account. That is a practical difference from assuming the Norwegian-kroner account and English-Norwegian programme used on other Hurtigruten ships. A traveller comparing departures should check the actual ship and route together.
The ship has battery-hybrid equipment and shore-power connectivity. The operator documents its 2020 refurbishment and later completed improvements in 2025, including the pool deck. These are later changes to an existing hull and do not make the ship a newbuild from either refurbishment year. Shore power also requires a suitable port connection; equipment aboard is not proof that it is used at every call.
A heated outdoor pool, hot tubs and wellness facilities distinguish the onboard offer. Dining includes Flora and Brasserie Árran, with Røst's fine-dining service included for suite guests and available as an upgrade for other accommodation when space permits. Compare the room's fare inclusions before treating a premium brand label as coverage of every optional service.
The technical references agree on 138.5 metres length and 21.5 metres beam. Accommodation and passenger totals are less clear: the current FAQ gives 263 cabins and a maximum of 526 guests, while the same page's specification lists 530 cabins and 554 beds, and the latest annual report gives 500 passengers. Those incompatible totals remain unresolved in the structured fields. They are not averaged or converted into a double-occupancy count. The underlying identity and confirmed facilities remain useful, while this specific numerical uncertainty is visible to readers.

A dash means no independently verified value is available. Guest counts at double occupancy and maximum capacity are different measures. GT measures enclosed volume, not weight.
