About us EUROPA

EUROPA is the 1999-built luxury ship in Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' current fleet, distinct from both EUROPA 2 and earlier vessels bearing the same name. Deltamarin's delivered-project record identifies Kvaerner Masa-Yards in Helsinki as the builder. The operator dates commissioning to September 1999, and Hamburg's cruise-terminal operator records the permanent IMO number as 9183855. These identifiers prevent the history of a previous EUROPA from being attached to this ship.

The current product accommodates no more than 400 guests in 204 outside suites, almost all with a veranda. That published operating limit differs from the 408-passenger figure still found in Hamburg's technical directory. Here, 400 is recorded as the operator's present guest limit, without pretending it is an independently inspected safety-certificate capacity. Cabin count and advertised occupancy are separate facts and are not calculated from each other.

Dining is an important part of the ship's identity. The operator describes five restaurants, including THE GLOBE by Kevin Fehling. The EUROPA Lounge, Club Belvedere and Gatsby's provide different settings for presentations, entertainment or conversation. Someone comparing EUROPA with a large resort ship should consider these smaller venues and the actual itinerary, rather than equate the word luxury with the biggest possible collection of attractions.

Completed maintenance and future plans are kept separate. A 2026 operator retrospective confirms that EUROPA underwent Lloyd Werft work in 2024. A later announcement sets out another docking period for 2027; it does not establish that the future changes are already installed. The retained technical particulars give 28,890 gross tonnage, 198.6 metres length, 24 metres beam and a maximum speed of 21 knots.

Today's fleet language arrangements include German and English. Before booking, compare the actual suite position, route and dining expectations with the services included in the offered fare. EUROPA's long service history is useful context, while its present accommodation and programme determine the holiday being purchased.
