About us Amera

Amera has a long identity trail before its present Phoenix Reisen role. Built in 1988 as Royal Viking Sun, it later sailed as Seabourn Sun and Prinsendam before becoming Amera in 2019. The permanent IMO number, 8700280, connects those names to one vessel. The current insurer and operator agree on 39,051 gross tonnage, while Phoenix publishes a present operating maximum of 835 guests.

Recent engineering is an important reason not to read the original build year as a complete technical description. ABB documented the completed installation of its Onboard DC Grid and shore connection in 2024. The manufacturer describes readiness for later integration of other energy sources; that is not evidence that batteries or fuel cells were already installed. The current operator sheet also identifies four Wabtec engines, rather than the original machinery.

Another refurbishment took place in May 2026. Phoenix's present technical summary records the completed year, and its shipyard diary documents the Marseille project with dated progress photographs. The earlier planned schedule and estimated budget do not prove every proposed detail was delivered exactly as announced. The profile therefore identifies the intervention without treating a prospective work list as a final acceptance report.

Onboard spaces include the Ozean and Amera main restaurants, a Lido buffet and the reservation-based Pichler's specialty restaurant. The programme uses extended meal periods and free choice of seating. A continuous promenade, outdoor pool, fitness and wellness areas give several ways to spend a sea day. Compare which of those facilities you will actually use with the route's number of days at sea.

Phoenix gives approximate dimensions of 205 metres length and 29 metres width. They are retained as rounded operator particulars, without invented decimal precision. Its published speed range is cruising speed and is not entered as a verified maximum. Accommodation category, language and itinerary remain central to the decision: the service is aimed at German-speaking guests and the onboard account uses euros. A renamed older ship can have substantial later equipment changes while retaining its own layout and style.
