About us Trollfjord

Trollfjord is the 2002-built Fosen ship that became Hurtigruten's first Signature vessel after its 2023 refurbishment. Its permanent IMO number is 9233258, and Gard records 16,140 gross tonnage under the Norwegian flag. The ship takes its name from the narrow fjord in the Vesterålen area. A destination name alone does not guarantee a particular passage on every sailing; the actual itinerary remains the reference.

The Signature conversion changed how the ship is presented to holidaymakers. Contractor Aros Marine documents work across cabins, corridors and public areas, while today's operator page describes a more leisurely product on the Svalbard Line, North Cape Line and selected Collection routes. This is a useful distinction from choosing a ship simply as transport between two Coastal Express ports.

A two-level observation area and 1893 Bar place the changing landscape near the centre of the experience. The ship also offers a panoramic sauna, fitness room and a lecture space that can be used for films on selected evenings. These are different ways to spend time aboard when weather or the timetable limits time outside. Compare the public rooms you expect to use with the number of sea days, rather than assume every small coastal ship has the same facilities.

The current offer includes Flora and Brasserie Árran, while Røst's fine-dining provision depends on the accommodation booked: it is included for suite guests and offered as an upgrade to other categories. An all-inclusive label therefore needs to be read alongside the actual room and fare conditions. The operator's FAQ identifies Norwegian kroner for the onboard account, with English and Norwegian used for announcements and lectures.

Current specifications give 135.75 metres length, 21.5 metres beam and 270 cabins. The operator explicitly states a maximum of 500 guests; this figure is not calculated from cabins or confused with an older transport capacity. Its 15-knot speed is not labelled as a verified maximum. Choose the room category, route and service level together, especially when a scenic voyage is the main reason for travelling.
