About us HANSEATIC nature

HANSEATIC nature introduced the present three-ship expedition family at Hapag-Lloyd Cruises in 2019. VARD identifies Langsten as its outfitting yard and VARD 6 07 as the underlying design. Its permanent IMO number is 9817133. It is a different ship from the older HANSEATIC that later left the fleet; sharing part of a name does not carry that earlier vessel's construction history into this profile.

The inaugural programme connected Hamburg with Bergen through the British Isles. The operator presented learning spaces such as the HanseAtrium and Ocean Academy alongside extendible glass balconies. Those features explain an expedition concept built around observing and understanding the destination rather than relying entirely on a large evening-show programme. They do not guarantee that weather allows every outdoor facility or planned landing to be used.

The current fleet offer sets a general maximum of 230 guests. Antarctic expeditions are limited to 199, an itinerary-specific restriction that should be checked alongside the voyage description. This profile records the general operating maximum while explaining the lower polar limit. Neither number is manufactured by doubling the 120 passenger cabins listed in the builder's detailed specification.

Later maintenance is documented as well as the launch. The operator's 2026 account of HANSEATIC spirit's refit explicitly identifies earlier work on HANSEATIC nature in 2023 at Lloyd Werft. It establishes a completed intervention without implying that a sister ship's later renovations happened on nature at the same time. The retained technical references give 15,651 gross tonnage, a moulded beam of 22 metres and a 17.1-knot maximum speed.

Published precise overall lengths differ between shipyard and port records and remain unresolved here. That uncertainty is documented rather than hidden behind an approximate figure. For a booking decision, the route, access arrangements and room location deserve attention alongside the small-ship format. Today's fleet language programme includes German and English, so historical German-only launch wording should not be mistaken for the current policy.
