About us Carnival Encounter
Carnival Encounter began passenger service in 2002 as Star Princess, later becoming Pacific Encounter before its Carnival Cruise Line introduction in 2025. It was built by Fincantieri at Monfalcone in Italy. The earlier Star Princess name belongs to this particular hull and should not be confused with the newer vessel that now uses the same name in the Princess fleet. The immutable IMO number keeps those identities separate.
The current insurer records 108,977 gross tonnage, differing from the rounded operator summary. The first page of the current Carnival deck plan defines 2,600 guests at double occupancy, consistent with the ship page and corporate fleet reference. Its accessible-plan page repeats a different figure, so the discrepancy is documented. The published length is 951 feet, approximately 289.9 metres after conversion.
Encounter's Australian presentation identifies four pools, waterslides and Edge activities including ziplining, climbing and abseiling. It separately names Byron Beach Club, the Adult-Only Oasis Retreat and the day spa. These are useful distinctions when comparing active recreation with quieter time aboard. Access to a named exclusive area should be checked against the actual room product and fare rather than presumed for every traveller.
The operator's dining selection includes Angelo's, Dragon Lady and Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse. Its current ship page describes Brisbane departures, which should still be matched to the booked sailing. The existence of a homeport overview does not confirm a particular departure time, terminal or port sequence. Review the actual itinerary before arranging the journey to the ship.
For accommodation, compare sleeping needs, the stated view and any privileges attached to the exact category. Older Star Princess or Pacific Encounter materials can help explain history but should not replace current Carnival room information. Trace the route to the facilities your group expects to use repeatedly and consider how many days the trip leaves aboard. Encounter's current venues and the chosen sailing's rhythm together provide the strongest basis for comparison with Adventure or other fleet alternatives.
