About us Bolette

Bolette began its working life as Holland America Line's Amsterdam in 2000. The former operator identifies it as the final ship of its four-vessel R class. Fred. Olsen purchased Amsterdam and Rotterdam in 2020 for the later Bolette and Borealis programmes. This history distinguishes original construction and passenger operation from a subsequent change of brand.

A completed refit in early 2026 refreshed Bolette's public spaces and accommodation. The operator records work in the Observatory and Ocean Bar, main dining-room carpeting, and renovation of more than fifty cabin bathrooms. Colours & Tastes received a new interior, while the Neptune Lounge gained stage equipment. These are actual completed improvements, separate from later programme announcements.

The current individual ship record identifies 690 cabins and 650 crew. It publishes 1273 guests on a standard-occupancy basis. An operator account separately describes capacity of up to 1338 passengers, matching the larger figure in its general fleet directory. These different bases are kept separate: the recorded maximum is not obtained by multiplying cabins or treating the standard figure as a maximum.

The ship measures 238 metres in published overall length. Its current individual page gives a width of 34.45 metres, without defining that as moulded beam. Current operator and US Coast Guard records agree on gross tonnage of 62735. A historical builder design figure is not substituted for this current record.

Shore-power capability is confirmed by the operator. Actual use depends on infrastructure at the berth, rather than being available at every destination automatically. The 2026 refit also included more efficient propeller blades. That completed work does not justify inventing a full machinery description where the inspected source does not provide one.

For accommodation selection, examine the actual category and window position. Some published ocean-view categories have an obstructed view, so the category details matter more than a broad ocean-view label. Compare route, embarkation instructions and port hours together before arranging independent transport. Bolette's original design and recent improvements provide context; the reserved room and specific voyage determine the practical experience.
