About us Amadea

Amadea began life as Asuka, built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Nagasaki in 1991. It joined the Phoenix Reisen programme under its current name in 2006. Those dates describe different stages of the same ship rather than a new vessel built for Phoenix. The permanent IMO number is 8913162, and the current insurer records 29,008 gross tonnage.

Phoenix now publishes a maximum of 570 guests, a smaller operating limit than some historical directories suggest. Its rounded 193-metre length is consistent with the precise 192.82 metres overall recorded by Canada's Transportation Safety Board. The same investigation distinguishes the 24.7-metre moulded beam from the greater extreme breadth. Here the moulded value is identified explicitly, avoiding a comparison that silently mixes different width conventions.

The ship's appeal is tied to a traditional arrangement of lounges, restaurants and a continuous promenade. The two-level Atlantik Lounge provides a main entertainment setting, while Harry's Bar and Vista Lounge offer other places to meet. A guest who expects to spend several days at sea can assess that layout against a preference for walking outside, reading or a hosted evening programme, rather than judge only the construction year.

Dining uses two main restaurants, Vier Jahreszeiten and Amadea, with open seating across extended meal periods. Pichler's is a separate reservation option without a supplement under the published offer, booked aboard. That makes planning different from selecting a fixed dining table for the entire cruise, although actual opening times and availability still belong to the sailing's programme.

The latest completed refurbishment identified in the current ship description is April 2024. Further work is planned for autumn 2026, with the operator's magazine identifying November at Lloyd Werft; it is future work at this review date. Compare the offered room carefully, especially categories with an obstructed view or a veranda beside the promenade. A common outside-cabin label does not guarantee the same outlook or privacy. German is the onboard programme language, and the account is in euros.
