About us Celestyal Discovery
Celestyal Discovery is the former AIDAaura, built in Wismar in 2003. Its original passenger career belongs to that year, rather than the later introduction to Celestyal. The change of operator brought a different name and onboard identity to an existing vessel. The current name remains linked to the original hull through IMO 9221566.
The ship manager identifies a length of 202.85 metres and width of 28.1 metres. Current identity records and the operator's brochure identify Bermuda flag. Some older technical information still shows Malta. Keeping those dates separate helps explain why a previous flag or accommodation inventory can appear in older descriptions without representing today's ship.
The operator records a March 2025 refurbishment and publishes 680 cabins. Its latest brochure explicitly describes 1360 guests at double occupancy. This is an occupancy basis, rather than a separately verified maximum passenger certificate. Earlier inventories with 633 rooms describe accommodation before the expansion and should not determine a current cabin comparison.
Discovery offers interior and exterior accommodation, balcony rooms and suites. Compare the specific category and cabin position when choosing between them. Additional beds, balcony arrangements and access conditions vary by category; a suite name alone does not describe the experience of a standard room. Match the booking confirmation with the current accommodation description.
The ship's Greek-island programme includes short three- and four-night trips. These can combine several destinations within a limited holiday window. Port timings therefore matter alongside the facilities aboard. Consider how embarkation, independent transfers and any booked excursions fit together, allowing time to return before the ship's stated deadline.
Dining choices include Thalassa, the buffet-style Taverna and the Greek Deli. Public areas include the Halara Cove pool area and evening entertainment spaces. Decide which reservations or additional purchases suit the actual time available aboard. The current Mediterranean operating update is a better starting point for a confirmed voyage than an older seasonal brochure; always check the specific departure before arranging transport.
