About us Artania
Artania is the Phoenix Reisen ship originally delivered as Royal Princess in 1984. Helsinki Shipyard's delivery register records the original vessel as yard number 464, giving a direct link to its Finnish construction history. It later sailed as Artemis before joining Phoenix under the Artania name in 2011. Its permanent IMO number is 8201480; a generic directory's later date must not be substituted for the original construction year.
The current operator describes 600 outside cabins, with balconies in many cabin, junior-suite and suite categories. Outside accommodation does not automatically mean a balcony, nor does it guarantee an unrestricted view. Use the actual category description and deck position to compare the room being sold. The published current guest maximum is 1,200, independently stated by Phoenix rather than calculated from the room inventory.
The public layout includes a continuous promenade, two pool areas and a terraced stern associated with the Phoenix Bar. Those outdoor spaces are a useful part of the comparison for travellers who value sea views and places to sit outside. Dining uses open seating during extended meal periods; Pichler's is a separate reservation option within the operator's published offer. Availability still depends on the sailing and onboard arrangements.
Its present machinery should not be assumed to be the original 1984 installation. Wärtsilä documented four Wärtsilä 32 main engines and a related auxiliary engine in its maintenance agreement, while today's operator still identifies Wärtsilä machinery. Subsequent maintenance is also part of the story: Phoenix records December 2025 as the latest completed refurbishment and autumn 2027 as the next planned yard period. Future work is not reported as already complete.
Steamship Mutual records a precise current gross tonnage of 44,697, compared with Phoenix's approximate 44,500. The operator gives rounded dimensions of 231 metres length and 29 metres width. Its 14–18-knot cruising range does not establish a current maximum speed. For a practical decision, compare route length, the room's outlook and the German-language programme together, including the euro account and services actually covered by the booking.
